We woke up slowly, to the music they played down by the pool. We look out this window and it is cloudy. So it seemed like a great day to leave, because it was really gross outside. Mom and Serena were washing off the shells and my sand dollar that I found broke. It wasn’t anybody’s fault because they are very fragile. But, embarrassingly, I kind of got really upset about it and I was already sad about leaving, so I was on the verge of a breakdown. Now my dad is my hero. He is the best man I know and he would do absolutely anything for me, and I love him more than anything. He saw how upset I was and said “okay, get stuff ready to go, and we will go down on the beach and look for another one!” We usually go down to the beach one last time anyways before we leave, and Serena wanted a picture of her and mom so that’s what we did. I took my nice camera out there, took their picture, and RIGHT when we started to look for a sand dollar, it started pouring. So I quickly gave my camera to my mom, who stuffed it under her shirt and took it back to the room. As I said before, my dad is my hero, especially after he walked up and down the beach in the cold, pouring rain, helping me look for a sand dollar. While I didn’t find another, I did find a super cool, dried out sea urchin.
After we washed that off, we got all of our stuff together and started the trips down to load the car up. After it was loaded, we stopped at this little store She Sells Sea Shells (its tradition) and looked around for a bit. Almost everything (minus the touristy stuff) is made up of shells or informative of shells from the island! I love that store. I got myself a little vase that has pretty shells decorating the outside of it.
After that, we stopped at a few places and ate lunch, and then we were on our way. We passed the MASSIVE storm on the way out, it was crazy and there was lighting everywhere. We drove back to our aunt’s house and stayed the night again. She had old black and white movies on, old westerns and the Marx brothers so that’s what we watched. She showed us old photos of my grandparents and other family members which was really cool. The next morning we got back in the car and started the trek home. I read some books on the way home, one of which was about Audrey Hepburn, who I LOVE. She is my favorite old Hollywood actress. My bookmark is also Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Not much else happened after that, but we made it home safely! It was the best vacation we had had in awhile and it was absolutely amazing, give or take a few bumps and bruises. So I guess this is bye for now!
