Why start a blog? What is a blog? What is it like? These are questions that I sometimes get from friends or family members about blogging. And actually, about a year ago I was asking these same questions myself.
I had somehow discovered the YouTuber Zoella (who I still adore, follow, and love) and watched all of her videos. This was way back in like 2009 or 2010 when she didn’t have a lot but still, I liked her a lot! I even discovered her blog back then too and poured through it for a few hours. Well I had somehow forgot her username and site name after that and kind of forgot about it. But a few years ago, I discovered her videos again! And then I remembered, she had a blog! And her friends had blogs! So I started reading them. And I loved just reading their blogs, about their lives, fashion, makeup, etc. It sounds a bit nosy (because when ya think about it, I guess it kinda is).
Once I started college, I started to somehow find more blogs to follow. Some from Pinterest, some just by clicking new blogs from other blogs, etc. I really liked coming home and catching up on them. Not long after, I got the notion in my head to start my own. I needed a creative outlet and this seemed perfect for me! I talked it over with my dad and after months and months of doing research (aka Pinterest searching) I finally felt like I was ready about this time last year! I saved up for a long time and was finally able to make Absolutely Ariana my own little corner of the internet.
I really wanted a place where I could share my pictures and adventures of my life. If I could help someone by sharing an experience or sharing tips, then that would be great too! I keep thinking about how cool it can be if my future kids can find this and see what their mom was like in her twenties.
Now, I may not be the most organized with my posts. It can be extremely confusing when looking for help and seeing all this “blogging rules” that contradict each other. It’s still a learning curve, trying to figure out where I want this to go, what to post, find the balance, and everything else. But I actually love this little hobby. I like writing, sharing, photographing, etc. I like reading other peoples blogs and getting new inspiration. It’s exciting and there’s always something new!
