Hello friends! Just a warning, my inner geek is about to peek through in this post. For my Literature class, we got assigned an author to do a presentation and paper on (which I actually presented today), but we got to pick. I picked Edgar Allan Poe because, well, first off, I love myself a creepy story. But also, his life was always somewhat interesting to me. He had such a sad life that I feel like more people should know about him and how amazing he actually was. He is considered the father of the detective stories and influenced and inspired other famous authors like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Ray Bradbury, and even Jules Verne. He was also one of the first writers in the Romanticism era! So, I was (and still am) excited to do a paper on an author I actually like, and in starting my research, I discovered there was the Edgar Allan Poe Museum in Richmond, which was only an hour away from where we were gonna be in Williamsburg. So my very awesome parents said okay to driving stopping by for awhile on our way home!

We weren’t allowed to take pictures in any of the exhibits but the courtyard was fair game. The people were very nice and there were two lovely black cats who live on the grounds (hehe). One named Edgar (of course) and one named Pluto. They were very nice and had the run of place.

It was very informative (especially if you love literature and want to learn more about Poe). It was a self-guided tour with a little guide to walk us through the buildings. They also have  They have many of his personal belongings and manuscripts. It is very interesting and I highly suggest going if you are ever in Richmond! Even if you aren’t interested, I think you would still have fun and enjoy it! Learn something! My dad and my sister didn’t really care but they indulged, for me, and ended up having a good time! The website is http://www.poemuseum.org/ !

I bought this biography there while my sister bought the bookmark and the small little raven!

This biography (I haven’t finished) so far is really interesting and the reviews on it are really great! I hope this post may have interested you in Poe or at least literature because it truly is amazing. What kind of literature, stories, and authors do you guys like?!

P.S. I am so sorry how late this is! I’m trying to sort my life out, school is ridiculous and crazy with projects, papers, presentations, etc. I’m trying to get better at time management (queen of procrastination here) and do things ahead of time. I’m also trying to establish a posting schedule on here. So just stick with me!
